AFS Corporate Member Wabi Iron & Steel, New Liskeard, Ontario, will receive $3.3 million from FedNor’s Regional Economic Growth Through Innovation Fund.

The 117-year-old company provides alloy development, casting geometry, design, prototyping, casting, and finishing. It also operates a mine equipment division responsible for designing and manufacturing solutions for underground mining. Wabi ships products to Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and South America. With the new funding, Wabi says it will purchase energy-efficient equipment to make larger products and increase production, adding 43 new jobs.
